Set within a historic apartment near Kurfürstendamm, this project brings a warm, contemporary interior to a classic Berlin Altbau. With 3.5-metre-high ceilings, original decorative mouldings and timber floors, the existing architecture provided the foundation for the design.

Working within the constraints of a rental apartment, the transformation focused on furniture, colour, textiles and lighting. Soft neutral tones are layered with terracotta accents, natural wood and black detailing, creating a cohesive connection between the living, dining and sleeping spaces. Tall curtains emphasise the generous ceiling heights, while mirrors and carefully placed lighting enhance light and depth.

The result is a welcoming, personal home that complements the building’s character through thoughtful, non-structural changes.
